Stien Vandervelde

Midwife - Postgraduate neonatology
Stien graduated in 2019 as a midwife at UCLL in Leuven. After 5 years working at the MIC (Maternal Intensive Care) at UZ Leuven, Stien decided to complement this job with a job at midwife practice InTeam.
In 2019, Stien could immediately start working as a midwife at UZ leuven in the high-risk pregnancies department. Here she learned a lot about the different pregnancy pathologies in a short time. This department specialises in, among other things, mothers who have given birth prematurely, where the pregnancy does not go as planned, are struggling with pregnancy loss and need rehabilitation after foetal surgery.
That same year, she also obtained her postgraduate degree in neonatology, and also recently obtained her certificate in NLS.
After 5 years of working at the MIC, Stien felt it was time to return to physiology for a change and therefore decided to join the InTeam team.
Other work experience
During her student days, Stien could often be found in the grapevine region, as monitor and head monitor of the playground operation, she also worked for years at Bistro 19 and Den bonte os in Overijse.
At the delivery room and maternity in Benin, she learned to go back to basics during her 3-month internship. This taught her to look at being pregnant, giving birth and becoming a mother in a completely different way.
Privately
Stien is originally from Overijse, but after her studies, her boyfriend Robin convinced her to come and live in Hoeilaart. So they recently bought a house here, where they live together with their 2 cats.
